Derby & Disney

Kentucky Derby
Walt Disney's Boardwalk Resort
Background:

Scott and I took the Humphries to Walt Disney World in December 2005.  We
had an AWESOME trip!  Towards the end of the trip we started talking about
all the stuff we wish we would have had time for.  We also started chatting
about things we'd like to do that weren't park oriented as well as restaurants
we would like to try.  Since I already have an Annual Pass we just needed to
worry about a pass for Scott.  I did a little research and found out that I could
upgrade Scott's 7 day Park Hopper with Expiration to an Annual Pass for
$65!!!!!  Duh, no brainer!!!  So we decided to head back to Disney.  I suggested
that we go during the
Flower & Garden Festival at Epcot and stay at the
Boardwalk.  Scott said that would work!  Then I started to mold the trip.  Our
wonderful friends Chris & Nicki moved to Louisville, KY a couple years ago
and we miss them very much!  They have been trying to talk us into coming
out to visit for awhile now.  They wanted us to come out for the Kentucky
Derby weekend!  So I started pricing out the option of going to Kentucky and
then onto Orlando from there and since Southwest runs such awesome prices
for one way flights it was a done deal!
Day One:

Scott went to work on Thursday morning EARLY!  I got up around 7:45 and
got showered and dressed and packed up the remaining toiletries.  I left and
went to the bank to get some $$ and then went to the Dentist to get my teeth
cleaned.  I went to a friend of mine who is now a Hygienist and she had NO
idea I was coming!!!  :-)  She almost died when she came around the corner
and saw me!  It was a VERY cool moment!  We have known each other for
almost 22 years!!  After the dentist I went to Sears to buy Scott a new dress
shirt!  Chris had called on Wednesday night to say he got Grandstand tix for
us so we needed to "dress" for Derby!  After Sears I ran by my friend
Amanda's house to drop off Concert tix that she was buying off of us.  I
grabbed a bite to eat and ate in the car on the way to my spa appointment.

After 3 1/2 GLORIOUS hours I headed home!  I had decided while I was out
doing all my running that I was going to shift everything up one size of
suitcases because we were really cramped and I had had to expand the small
suitcase already!  Nope, not gonna work!  So I switched everything over!  Scott
was home very soon after and he changed his clothes and we were off!  Dad
took us to the airport and we sky cap-ed our bags and then went through
security.  After we got through Security we grabbed a couple slices of pizza at
Mamma Illardo's.  We sat down at our gate for all of 20 minutes and it was
time to wait in line for the cattle call!  We had a full flight but a VERY fun
flight!  Our crew was AWESOME!!!!  Everyone was psyched up for Derby as
well!!!  Too much fun! We landed right on time and then had to wait quite a
time for our bags!  Chris was riding around the airport and got us almost
immediately after we went outside!

We got to the house and chatted with Nicki for a little while and then it was off
to bed around midnight!!!
